West division preview: the champ's neighborhood
Motion Man defends from the West, and Redeem Team, LONG DAK STYLE, TunchieFit, TEAM ROCKET and Yahweh's Champ all have to walk through him.
The reigning champion lives here, which reframes every other room in the division. Motion Man's two titles both came out of the West, and both were built the same way: survive the regular season, peak in the bracket. Harris does not chase the best record. He chases the best December.
TEAM ROCKET is the most credible challenger. D. Jordan's 2024 title team was the deepest roster this league has fielded — a 12-2 wire-to-wire machine — and the current build looks like a deliberate attempt to recreate it — draft capital first, names second. If the Gazette had to pick one franchise to take a banner off the two-headed monster, it is this one.
Redeem Team carries the 2022 title and the league's most disciplined front office. Barry Sanders does not panic-trade, does not overpay at the deadline, and does not appear in the rumor mill. That last part is either patience or a very good poker face.
LONG DAK STYLE and TunchieFit are the division's swing votes. C. Scarlett builds around a top-heavy core and dares the field to beat his best weeks; Aziz Shittu has the most balanced roster in the West and the least tolerance for a slow start.
Yahweh's Champ enters year one of what C. Akin-David has openly called a rebuild. Take him at his word, then check the trade block in November anyway.
