Draft night recap: the champ picked first, and the room never recovered

Motion Man opened the 2026 draft at No. 1, Booz Cruz closed it at No. 12, and in between twelve rosters got very real, very fast. The Gazette's pick-by-pick audit.

The full first-round order, for the record books: 1. Motion Man, 2. ND 3hunnid, 3. TEAM ROCKET, 4. REC It Ralphs!, 5. LONG DAK STYLE, 6. 3RINGZ PAPITO FC, 7. Yahweh's Champ, 8. Crashout Billy, 9. TunchieFit, 10. Trust LeProcess, 11. Redeem Team, 12. Booz Cruz.

Yes, the reigning two-time champion drafted first. Ronnie Harris spent the offseason pretending the whole thing was luck, then walked into the room and put Jalen Hurts and Jahmyr Gibbs at the top of a title defense. The league allowed this. The league has only itself to blame.

The two-time champion holding the first overall pick is not a loophole. It is an indictment of the punishment committee.

Noor Davis took ND 3hunnid second overall and built the way he always builds — ceiling first, sleep later. A Burrow-led passing stack with Higgins and Pickens is exactly the kind of weekly variance machine that either wins November or ruins it. There is no in-between with this franchise, and that is the point.

TEAM ROCKET at three looks like a man recreating his 2024 machine on purpose: Caleb Williams with Ja'Marr Chase, Garrett Wilson and Brock Bowers underneath him. The Gazette's early read is that D. Jordan drafted the most complete roster in the building, which is precisely what he said last time he won.

The middle of the order produced the night's drama. 3RINGZ PAPITO FC, picking sixth for the first time in the trophy years, came away with the most stacked receiver room of his career — Nabers, St. Brown and LaPorta is not a rebuild, it is a reload. Crashout Billy at eight drafted like a man who watches the waiver wire for fun, and TunchieFit at nine landed Justin Jefferson and still managed the blunder the league will be discussing until Thanksgiving.

Trust LeProcess picking tenth is either a masterclass in patience or a scheduling error. CeeDee Lamb and Josh Allen at the turn is a real foundation — the scouts who graded his draft 'mediocre to concerning' were looking at the back half of the board. Redeem Team at eleven grabbed Saquon Barkley with the composure of a man who has done this before, because he has.

And then there is Booz Cruz at twelve, where the draft order finally stopped being cruel and started being funny. Ike left the night with Henry, Achane and two quarterbacks he believes in, which means the trade proposals start Wednesday. They always start Wednesday.
